Bows

This picture is not very good. Bows dont' scan very well and it seems I have lost my memory card for my digital camera. But you get the general Idea anyway. I intend to make more bows, They were so easy to do,

Snowman Card

This one is also one of my favorites. You can't see it but there is glitter on the snowmans hat band and fuzzy ball on top. There is also a secret snowman surprise in the inside of this card. I just LOVE snow.

Reindeer card

This was one of my favorite cards. As I like reindeer. In the original card the first reindeers nose wasn't red. I added that to my card. We thought this would be a nice mans card.

Gift card holder

This is a gift card holder we did with designer paper and also tried out SU textured paper. I will be making more of these for other occasions such as birthdays. Very easy and very nice.

The first ;picture is the outside and the second picture is with it opened up.

Snow Flake Card 6 X 6

The next few posts will be of cards and such that I made at a stamp camp at my sister Greta's house in Stafford, VA. Becky and her friend Zulma and I went today for the Stamp Camp.

Here is one card we made. I love snow flakes. I really like this card. It is suppose to be on a 6X6 white card stock. But my neice (who is 4) managed to get my 6X12 piece of cardstock and use it to practice writing her name. Her dad was helping her. SHe was doing a fine job.

Return from AWAL

Hello, Its been quite awhile since I posted anything. I guess life just took a fast ride for a while. I have been quite busy with work. Doing alot of overtime. That should stop soon as my bus runs have been adjusted. I also applied for a new bus driving position. I will post if I get it or not. I haven't been called for an interview yet. Anyway, I am back and hopefully can do more posting now.

Well Its been awhile

Well its been awhile since I posted. Over 4 weeks. I sure have been busy tho. My step daughter got married. It was a great wedding. when I get some pictures I will post them. School has also started so I have been busy with bus routes and changes and gettin used to new students as well as writing and rewriting my Lefts and Rights (driving directions for my route).

So I thought I would just stop by here a moment and fill y'all in. I haven't fallen off the face of the earth.

I am really hoping for some of this snowy weather. However today October 9, 2007 it was unseasonably warm. We had a high of 91 degrees. Sweltering if ya ask me. It was more like this today Sweaty. So I guess I will just keep on dreaming.
I went to a stamp camp at Gretas house this weekend. I will post pictures of what we did in a couple of days as soon as I get time to scan them and up load them.

Just above a scar I have from breaking my ankle 27 years ago.

Central NY Gathering, Dolgeville NY August 18 2007

In the three posts below are pictures of the Gathering we had in Dolgeville NY August 18, 2007. It was a grand time. Altho the coffee shop wasn't open when we wanted to go for a coffee break. Great job organizing this Gathering....

Aunt Signe taking a nephew break. Isn't he soooo cute... He did so well, didn't hardly hear a peep out of him.... Of course with so many people doteing on him he didn't have time to get fussy.

Thinking.... Hmmm... How does this go together... Ididn't know you could make it do that!!!!

This is my setup for the shoe box Swap at the Dolgeville Gathering. I used the Delight in Life stamp set. Vintage Violet and natural card stock. Vintage Violet ink. Fine Multicolored Glitter, glue pen and pop dots (that I had to borrow cause I left mine at home in Virginia)

Word Of the Day

protean \PROH-tee-un\ adjective

1 : of or resembling Proteus in having a varied nature or ability to assume different forms
*2 : displaying great diversity or variety : versatile

Example sentence:Bradley has made the most of the space in his tiny apartment by selecting furniture pieces that are protean, such as storage cubes that double as extra seats.

Did you know?Proteus was the original master of disguise. According to Greek mythology, the grizzled old shepherd of Poseidon's sea creatures possessed the gift of prophecy but didn't like to share his knowledge. Proteus would escape those who wanted to question him by changing his shape. The only way to get a straight answer from him was to sneak up behind him during his midday nap and hold onto him (while he frantically changed from shape to shape) until he eventually revealed what he knew. The adjective "protean" describes anyone or anything that is as mutable and adaptable as the mythological shepherd.

Cards made at Gaylas house last week.

While in NY I made the following 6 cards and Gayla's house. My mom and I went for a day of stamping at our good friend Gayla's. It was a blast and the apple sauce cake was the best....

The snowman on skis is only a partial card front. I have lots of Ideas of what I want to do to complete it. I would like to get my hands on some liquid applique for some snow detail.

Three new cards

Here are three new cards I made at my sisters house yesterday. I took Becky there to spend the night. But while I was there I made these cards.... everyday is a good day to stamp. They were made with the Baroque Motif stamp set from Stampin Up
I really like the hatpin and the pearls on this card. I am really liking the Baroque Motif stamp set. Good thing I have one on order...

This one is my favorite I think...

School starts soon...

I went to my yearly safety and security pyramid meeting today. I got the bus runs that I requested. Altho... I don't have my second bell run yet. I know it is at the school I want but I hope it is the children I asked for. We shall see. There was alot of rearranging of supervisors so it may take abit of time to get things completed. But it better not take too long as school starts next week.

Word Of The Day

plenitude \PLEN-uh-tood\ noun

1 : the quality or state of being full : completeness
*2 : a great sufficiency : abundance

Example sentence:The resort offers a plenitude of entertainment options for families traveling with children.

Did you know?"Plenitude" was first recorded in English during the 15th century and ultimately comes to us from "plenus," the Latin word for "full." "Plenus" has also given us "plenty," which in turn influenced a variation on "plenitude": "plentitude." Some usage commentators have objected to "plentitude," but it has been in use since the early 1600s and has appeared in the works of such writers as Henry James and Sir Walter Scott. Both words are used in the same sorts of contexts, but "plentitude" is not used as frequently as "plenitude."

Pictures....

This is a picture of me driving the ICL bus. And below is a picture of the bus.

Well.... I made it home....

from visiting in Dolgeville NY. Becky spent the majority of the time in Utica with her cousins. She had a great time. She is growing up so fast.

I did alot of stamping. I still could find time to stamp some more... I had a wonderful time at the gathering at Dolgeville Christian Fellowship. It was a nice time of stamping. (Altho I was a mite dissappointed that the coffee shop wasn't open when we went to get coffee) Kirstin maybe as time passes we will be able to visit it again. ROTFL

I had an extreemely enjoyable time at Gaylas stamping away the day also... and that applesauce cake she made was absolutely delicious. YUMMM Could always have more of that. I hope Gayla knows that the next time I come to NY I am coming to her house for a visit.....

I also went to a stamp camp at Kirstins house. Now I had to go and order the baroque motif stamp set. I absolutely love the cards we made with them... I will upload some cards when I get them loaded onto my computer....

I also got to drive the bus for Imagination Coach Lines. (See link for Imagination Coach Lines in right hand column.) What a nice ride.... I hope I can drive it again soon. So much nicer that the school bus I drive...Picture to soon follow...

Well it is back to work again tomorrow. I have a manditory safety meeting I must attend for Fairax County transportation. I will also be given my route assignments for the 2007-2008 school year... I hope I get the attendant and routes I requested...

Word Of The Day

quiescent \kwy-ESS-unt\ adjective

*1 : marked by inactivity or repose : tranquilly at rest
2 : causing no trouble or symptoms

Example sentence:The storm was over, and the quiescent waters betrayed no sign of yesterday's turbulence.

Did you know?"Quiescent" won't cause you any pain, and neither will its synonyms "latent," "dormant," and "potential," at least not immediately. All four words mean "not now showing signs of activity or existence." "Latent" usually applies to something that has not yet come forth but may emerge and develop, as in "a latent desire for success." "Dormant" implies a state of inactivity similar to sleep, as in "their passions lay dormant." "Potential" applies to what may or may not come to be. "A potential disaster" is a typical example. "Quiescent," which traces to the Latin "quiescere" (meaning "to become quiet" or "to rest"), often suggests a temporary cessation of activity, as in "a quiescent disease" or "a summer resort quiescent in wintertime."

At Home In NY

Well... We (Becky and I) have been here in Dolgeville NY area for about 6 days. The ride up was rather nicely uneventful. Weather was nice and not alot of annoying construction through Pennsylvania.

We spent the first few days in Utica. Staying with Anna and the with Kirstin. Becky is having a great time with her cousins.

Our next adventure is a stamp gathering this Saturday at Dolgeville Christian Fellowships hall. One can never have enough stamping....

In a couple of hours I will be taking Becky back into Utica to spend some more time with her cousins. She will have a much more fun time with them then out here with the adults.

Well... I will try to check in again later. My computer savy sister Kirstin is going to help me do some rearranging and updating of my blog. So see ya then.

Going to Travel

Becky and I will be leaving tomorrow morning for a trip to Utica, NY. We will be returning home on August 25. I may have limited access to a computer. So Posting may be infrequent. I hope everyone has all their back to school shopping done. See ya when we get back.

Word of the Day...

scaramouch \skair-uh-MOOSH\ noun

1 capitalized : a stock character in the Italian commedia dell'arte that burlesques the Spanish don and is characterized by boastfulness and cowardliness

2 a : a cowardly buffoon *b : rascal, scamp

Example sentence:My great uncle was an untrustworthy old scaramouch.

Did you know?In the commedia dell'arte, Scaramouch was a stock character who was constantly being cudgeled by Harlequin, which may explain why his name is based on an Italian word meaning "skirmish," or "a minor fight." The character was made popular in England during the late 1600s by the clever acting of Tiberio Fiurelli. During that time, the name "Scaramouch" also gained notoriety as a derogatory word for "a cowardly buffoon" or "rascal." Today not many people use the word (which can also be spelled "scaramouche"), but you will encounter it while listening to Queen's ubiquitous rock song "Bohemian Rhapsody," in the lyric "I see a little silhouetto of a man / Scaramouche, Scaramouche, will you do the fandango?"

Shoebox card

This card is the one I am doing for our shoebox project... It is using "Delight in Life" stamp set. Vintage Violet card stock and ink and natural ivory card stock. It also has just a touch of glitter on the center of one flower.

Another card front...

This was the card front I originally started making for the CNY gathering. It was very tedious to make. So I only made a few and went on the the previously posted card. The gold cord lacing is what took sooooooo long. So I will bring the few I made in case someone would like one.

Card front for CYN Gathering

This card front was made today. The colors don't look exactly like the do in real life. I used my cuttlebug to emboss the background. I used the rock and roll technique to do the flower. I used "Looks Like Spring" and "Wonderful Words" stamp set. I used the matching punch to punch out the very central flower. I fastened them together with a bronze brad. I also outlined the outer edges of the larger flower with multicolored very fine glitter. .

Word Of the Day

deliquesce \del-ih-KWESS\

verb*1 : to dissolve or melt away
2 : to become soft or liquid with age or maturity — used of some fungal structures (as the gills of a mushroom)

Example sentence:Someone forgot to put the butter back in the refrigerator, instead leaving it to deliquesce on the kitchen counter.

Did you know?"Deliquesce" derives from the prefix "de-" ("completely, away") and a form of the Latin verb "liquēre," meaning "to be fluid." Things that deliquesce, it could be said, turn to mush in more ways than one. In scientific contexts, a substance that deliquesces absorbs moisture from the atmosphere until it dissolves in the absorbed water and forms a solution. When plants and fungi deliquesce, they lose rigidity as they age. When "deliquesce" is used in non-scientific contexts, it is often in a figurative or humorous way to suggest the act of "melting away" under exhaustion, heat, or idleness, as in "teenagers deliquescing in 90-degree temperatures."

*Indicates the sense illustrated in the example sentence.

ATC for CNY Gathering

Here is what I came up with for the ATC for the CNY Gathering this month... I have never done an ATC before. So I hope it is right.

I used the In Full Bloom stamp set, Basic Black ink, used the aqua painter and pumpkin ink, chocolate chip ink, real thyme ink. Then when it was all dry I embossed the whole image with irredescent Ice. Then I tied some twine around the paper with the image. I layered it on real thyme and pumpkin spice card stock. It sparkles way more than it shows in the picture...

More Stamp Camp Projects

This is a small purse of photo pocket we made. It was very easy to do. I will more than likely make more of these. Makes a cute gift for anyone. We used the sample paper pack.
The butterfly on this card is actually 3D. And it does have dazzling diamonds on the wings. It isn't showing up very well in this scan. I do like the designer paper we used and I like the soft muted colors
I love the way we used the words to make the butterfly trail. I also used the crop-a-dile for hole punching. I really need to invest in one of those items. Looks like I will have to go to Michaels to shop...oh and the butterfly on this is also 3D and has dazzling diamonds on the wings. My scanner isn't picking that up real well.
